“Mirror” was an art installation that, through two illustrations and two videos projected onto structures alluding to mirrors and complemented by recorded comments, invites the viewer to compare the objects presented with their self-image and the comments with other people's opinions of them.
This installation aimed to take the public on a journey of introspection, allowing them to question the influence of society on their self-image and the distortion of their reflection in the mirror created by this intervention.
The project included a variety of multimedia techniques such as video editing, sound, Arduino and processing, videomapping, and different techniques related to the visual arts, such as photography and digital illustration. The presentation consisted of a set of “mirrors” which, when the spectator entered, received projected videos via a sensor, imitating the action of someone standing in front of an ordinary mirror and seeing their reflection. In the background, it was possible to hear, on a loop, various comments that the project participants used to describe themselves, representative of the social influence that shapes each individual's personal self-image. The sound was recurring, but the image was only present when the audience was present and, as time went by, more details were altered in each image.
